How an essential oil diffuser works

An ultrasonic diffuser mixes water with a few drops of essential oil and, through vibration, turns it into a cool mist that scents the room. As it uses no heat, the oil keeps its full scent, and many models lightly humidify the air.

Waterless diffusers work by nebulisation: they attach directly to the essential oil bottle and spray it as very fine particles. The scent is more intense and there is no tank to fill.

How to choose your diffuser

• Room size: for a living room or a large bedroom, choose a 400 or 500 ml model; for the desk, a USB model is enough.
• Running time: the bigger the tank, the longer it runs without refilling.
• Timer and auto shut-off, useful at night or when you leave the house.
• Noise and light: for the bedroom, choose a quiet model with a light you can switch off.

How to use an essential oil diffuser

Fill the tank with water up to the line and add 5 to 10 drops of essential oil per 200 ml, depending on the oil and how intense you like the scent. In small rooms, start with fewer drops. Empty and dry the tank after each use. Choose your scents from our essential oils for diffusers or our ready-made essential oil blends.
