🌿 Natural White Sandalwood Essential Oil – Santalum album
The white sandalwood tree (Santalum album) is an evergreen species that can grow between 4 to 9 meters tall and live up to one hundred years. It is semi-parasitic, developing haustoria on its roots to connect with the roots of other trees, from which it absorbs nutrients such as phosphorus, nitrogen, and potassium. In India, sandalwood is considered a sacred tree, highly valued for its aromatic wood and essential oil, traditionally used in rituals and Ayurvedic medicine.
Due to overexploitation, sandalwood has become a vulnerable species, and its harvesting is strictly regulated. Only trees older than 30 years may be legally cut in India, when the trunk reaches maturity and begins to decline.
