Properties of Geranium (Egyptian) Essential Oil
The Geranium, specifically the botanical species Pelargonium Graveolens, is a plant renowned for producing one of the most valuable essences in perfumery and cosmetics. Its fragrance offers a floral, fresh, sweet, and fruity note to perfumes. The plant is rich in its pale yellow-green essential oil, obtained through steam distillation of the stems, leaves, and flowers of the geranium. In some countries, geranium absolute is also produced by macerating the plant in an odorless fat and then extracting the essence with an alcoholic solvent. The essential oil is primarily composed of volatile substances responsible for its strong, sweet aroma characteristic of geranium. This shrub can grow up to a meter high with pointed, toothed leaves and small pink flowers. The entire plant is aromatic.
